PhD AREAS OF EXPERTISE :Dr. Chan's research and expert area in computer forensics included corporate information policy and system architect design, cyber crime investigation, IT audit and litigation support. He was the Head of the Technology Crime, Hong Kong Police, where he set up cyber intelligence and the Computer Forensics Laboratory for IT crime investigation and digital evidence analysis. Currently, Dr. Chan teaches at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the University of Hong Kong. She has been involving in technology crime investigation, cyber intelligence, digital forensics, mobile forensics, information security management, and quality management since 2010. Her major duties include managing the Laboratory and heading the Computer Analysis Response Team (CART) that reports directly to the top management. She is also responsible for computer forensic analysis, crime scene handling involving digital evidence, training and research. She successfully carried out a numbers of digital forensic examinations for cases involving online piracy, money laundering, narcotics trafficking, revenue fraud and protection, child pornography, smuggling, consumer rights protection, intellectual property protection, organized and serious crimes as well as internal investigation. Moreover, she has a wealth of experience in testifying as an expert in courts for criminal cases and serves as an advisor to the prosecutors and frontline investigators on cybercrime issues and digital evidence. Also, she was the part-time lecture speaker of the University of Hong Kong School of Professional and Continuing Education (HKU SPACE) for the Postgraduate Diploma in IT Forensics. In the past few years, he has working on digital forensics and investigation tools DESK (digital evidence search tool) and Lineament Monitoring System (Internet surveillance tool). Dr. Chow has been invited to be a computer forensic expert to assist the Court and to give advice to counsels on understanding and interpreting digital evidence for both criminal and civil proceedings in Hong Kong. Currently, Dr. Chow is the Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Hong Kong, and is also the Associate Director of the Center for Information Security and Cryptography. He is currently the technology crime trainer of the Hong Kong Police Force and is responsible for providing various types of training in technology crime investigation and computer forensics to both local and overseas law enforcement units. Frank has been responsible for developing IT crime investigation and computer forensics training programs on behalf of the Interpol Asia South Pacific Working Party on IT Crime, and has led regional training programs in Korea, Japan, Australia and Thailand. He has also delivered presentations at numerous international Cyber crime related conferences. Frank is currently a part-time Ph.D. student with the Department of Computer Science, University of Hong Kong and is one of the key members of the Computer Forensics Research Group. His research interests include live systems forensics, digital forensics and digital timestamp analysis. He has been involved in numerous assignments relating to fraud, FCPA, workplace disputes resulting from information leakage and network attacks. He is experienced in managing computer data and preparing reports for clients and their legal advisers. He also acted as an expert witness in providing evidence in Hong Kong High Court and Labour Tribunal cases in the past. Patrick is an EnCase Certified Examiner (EnCE) and is certified in industry standard software such as Access Data and X-Ways Forensics. He is also a Certified Practicing Accountant in Australia.
