Chit-Chat

To facilitate casual and sociable communications among ISFS members, ISFS arranges chit-chat gatherings (on an ad-hoc basis) discussing various information security or computer forensics related issues. One or two members will be hosting in each gathering and from time to time we will invite guests and experts to share their views with us.

Chit-chat gathering on "Building our Malware investigation environment" (1 Jun 2009, Mon)

Description : As a continuation of our previous Malware investigation workshop held in February 2009, ISFS would like to arrange a chit-chat gathering on "Building our Malware investigation environment" on Jun 1 (Monday) evening at 7pm.

This will be a Malware investigation lab planning discussion session.

We would like to setup some malware acquisition and testing environment. Some equipment have already been purchased and facilities are ready. The only remaining parts are interested parties. Those interested in helping or setting up the honeynet environment, malware environment are invited to this chit-chat session.

In this session, we would like to finalize the setup arrangement and plan, so those participants can connect back to the environment and collect the findings any time.

Afterwards, we will organize another workshop on configuration of the facilities in July 2009.

Abstract : Kaminsky has found a way to effectively conduct a DNS cache poisoning in an average of 10 seconds. In this chit-chat, the problem will be briefly described; its impact and possible solutions will also be considered.
